Day 5

Start: Brattleboro North KOA, Brattleboro VT
End:
Miles: 0

It rained some during the night. Morning gave us a cloudy day, with a little rain and a little sun. The temperature straggled up to 57f, but not very enthusiastically. The low was 42f.

I found myself with a congested chest, and sore throat. It got worse through the day until I could barely talk while typing this. I hate colds.

After breakfast in the little house in the nice campground, we tried the campground showers (immaculate, warm, hot hot water).

Then we went in to the village of Putney to pick up a few grocery items. After that, we headed for Mary & Walter’s house. Mary went to kindergarten and brought back grandson Tim. We had coffee and snacked on poppy-seed bread then chatted and had lunch.

We went in to Claremont to look for a better raincoat for Dolores. We found a sporting goods store selling off their winter merchandise. She picked up a nice coat, marked down to $59.95 from $180; then we got a 20% discount on that, so the final cost was under $50. She’s happy with her new coat.

Then we went to Kmart to buy Tim a toy. He came up with a Darth Vader & Imperial Leader combination. He and Dolores started playing (she hasn’t had a small boy to play with for some time) with those things when we got back to the house.

They kept at that for a good time, then got into other games and played till dinner time. Marybeth and kids David and Julieann came in after Dave’s baseball game (he got an RBI). We ate and chatted (except me) and took pictures and had a good time.

Then back to the little house for a large dose of Nyquil and sleep. Tomorrow’s supposed to be nice.
