August 20, 2003 Wednesday
Start: High Country RV Park, Whitehorse YT End: Downtown RV Park, Watson Lake YT Miles: 270 Hi Temp: missed it Lo Temp: missed it
This was a long, boring, sort of day.
We rose, ate, and hit the road.
After 200 miles, we stopped for fuel at Teslin and kept going.
Dolores wasn't feeling great (like a cold coming on), so she slept three hours of this.
We arrived at Watson Lake in mid-afternoon, checked in and set up with the truck still connected to the trailer for a quick getaway tomorrow. We each fixed our own "comfort foods" (Dolores had chicken noodle soup and sourdough rolls, for instance). I took a long hike to limber up after the drive.
I chatted for a bit with an ex-Navy flier who was headed to Kodiak, with his wife, to help at a mission for two weeks. Turns out he'd been flying out of Kodiak when I went through there in 1962.
We settled in relatively early and rested.
