10/16/16 Sunday
A few photosOff to church in misty rain and blowing wind. Then back toward El Gaucho but stopped at a bakery for brunch. That took a while but we still got back to the room in time to change for pickup by Fran and Duane with Lynn. We parked in a garage close to the theatre, a couple of hundred feet down in the C level.
Susan and Bryant took the RapidLine D bus inbound.
Then we met at the 5th Avenue Theatre, a famous old restored 1920's architecture thing like Grumman's Chinese in LA. The 5th Avenue Theatre here is known for putting on great musical productions, and this one was really good.
Will-call gave us our seat stubs and everyone entered to go ga-ga at the old Chinese themed theatre. It really is impressive and shows a lot of dedication in its restoration.
The play Man of La Mancha started with the screen going up on the prison scene in which it is set. It was wonderfully done. Great staging, wonderful voices, great choreography and good stage management. The theme song is known by everyone, but not the way these performers sang it. My favorite character was Sancho Panza, played by a short actor who did great moves named Don Darryl Rivera.
But as well, it gave us a chance to have Susan & Bryant back with Fran & Duane and with Lynn. So the family ties are re-inforced.
Fran led the way to Palomino afterward to snag a table for seven. We had wines and drinks and tapa-type dishes and mini-pizzas till we were all full and fading. Lots of wonderful conversation and laughs. Then Susan & Bryant headed back home on the bus, we were dropped at El Gaucho by F&D.
The complimentary wine service was still on in the upstairs lobby at El Gaucho Inn. So we pulled up a glass and sat in front of the gas fireplace to play pussy-cat. Nice, quiet, warm. Pictures on the walls show previous famous customers. After the glass we went into the room to dis-engage.
Just a wonderful day with family.
10/17/16 Monday
Dolores''s knee is hurting today.
We did what we wanted to do - nothing. We slept in, we lazed about. Finally, we got up and went to lunch at the Virginia Inn. Very good.
We went back and loafed some more.
Then off to Fran & Duane's condo for happy hour, with pupu's and mucho wine. Steve & Maureen were there, plus Lynn, and the four of us.
After more wine than we needed, we came home by Lyft and once again got cut off by a train. Had to go around the train again. Dang you, BNSF.
10/18/18 Tuesday
A few photosD's knee is somewhat better.
Got up, flailed around for a while, then packed. We put the luggage in storage at El Gaucho to be picked up after dinner tonight.
Took the bus to Ballard and went to lunch at Hi-Life. Now we're back at Susan's doing computer chores and chatting.
Soon, we'll be off to El Gaucho again for dinner.
Later - we had a great dinner at El Gaucho. Black-tie waiters, nice big table. Finally Susan & Bryant headed home & Fran & Duane returned to their condo while we caught a limo to a hotel near SEA airport for an early getup tomorrow.
G'nite!!
