Last day in South America this trip. Late flight, so we have time to do a few more things here.
We negotiated a late checkout from the hotel (1600) and scheduled a taxi to the airport at that time. Also got housekeeping to deliver more toilet paper.
We both thought alcohol is hindering our recovery from diarrhea so we're abstaining from food and drink until we get to the States tomorrow.
We will head north and a bit west on Delta 6050 (LATAM 500 code share) for the 4,100 miles to Miami. The plane is a 787-9 in the old 2-2-2 configuration in business class; we're in 4A & 4C.
We taxied to SCL, checked in at 1700, and spent our time in the Latam Lounge.
We started boarding an hour ahead of takeoff. The flight crew attached the mattresses to the seats prior to takeoff and placed the duvet nearby. Families gathered and chatted. There were several kids in First Class. After takeoff food was served; we took it easy with a cheese tray. The cabin soon got silent and dark as everyone fell asleep.
We awoke on the north side of Cuba and flew the pattern in to MIA. The pilot seemed to land long and use hard braking measures at about 0600.
We passed through immigration easily, got our luggage, and went to the Hotels pickup point. The Marriott chariot took us to the Courtyard, we shook the dew off the minivan and charged onto the roads. We took I-95 up the state and pulled in to our condo at 1300.
We took naps and loafed the remainder of the day.
[Ed. our diarrhea continued for several days. D healed first. O had to go to the doctor and received a diagnosis of " E. coli "and is now (12/16/22) on Xifaxin]
That's all, folks. Thanks for coming along.
