We got up and went out to breakfast at a place we've gone before - Wildflour Cafe in Hyder. We had a fine breakfast with some of the best bread we've ever tasted. Then back through Canadian Border Services to the rig. We hooked up and went out to BC-37 at Meziadin Junction to fill up (0.969/liter). Then we headed north again.

Bears and potholes and gravel seemed to be the order of the day.

This road is worse than it was two years ago. Noise is being made about paving the south-most of four sections of gravel road. We traversed three of them today, leaving one. Actually, the recently-graveled road is as good as pavement. It's the pot-holed, bumpy part that gets you by surprise and bounces you around. We didn't break anything, but some dishes moved around in the cabinet. Average speed for the day was way down.

There are all sorts of rigs that made the trip today here in our campground tonight. Several class A's, including a Discovery, an Alfa, and a Country Coach, a couple of Class C's, a bunch of fifth-wheels all the way from ours to the three-axle variety, a couple of flat-faced trailers, and a couple class B's. Quite a group.

The bears began with a pair of black bears lying in the grass next to the road eating dandelions. We stopped next to them and took their picture. One moved a little to show annoyance, but the other didn't change a thing. They were still eating when we went on.

The next bear was a dark brown colored black bear foraging in the margin of the road. He moved to get behind a bush, but we got his picture anyway.  The final bear was a BIG black bear that crossed the road in front of us; we didn't get his picture before he went into the brush.

We ate after we arrived. Dolores took flower pictures. I took some pictures of the campground. Now we're settling in with books.

On to Teslin tomorrow.
