I got up and took the truck to Econolube in Spruce Grove. I had them use my filters and oil to do the oil change, oil filter, air filter, and fuel filter. Then I had the transmission fluid flushed (it gets a lot of stress in towing) with a Penzoil Multigrade Multivehicle fluid, which I'd never used before but seems ok in driving today. The power steering fluid reservoir fluid is low - have to stop and get some when easy to do so.

They also did the chassis lube, checked all the fluids, lights, belt, etc. Should be ok till after we get home.

I topped off the fuel and returned to the little house. We got the trailer ready to move and hit the road at 10:38am.

We went around Edmonton on the south side and then picked up AB-14 going east and south. It's a relatively quiet two lane road that parallels the more busy Transcanada-16. I don't think we went through or close to a town with more than 1,000 population the whole day until we arrived at the Battlefords (Battleford and North Battleford). Twenty-five miles from N. Battleford, we came to a construction area 18 miles long. Much dust and flying gravel, potholes galore. Other than that, the road was ok.

We checked into the city's David Laird Campground (next to the Museum of Western Development). This is a place to come back to. It's quiet and inexpensive and convenient to other attractions in the area. The gophers have overrun the place - holes everywhere. The trailer wound up level when we parked it, so we just left it hooked to the truck, put down the rear jacks to stabilize it, and moved inside.

We fixed up a chicken dinner in the trailer, and then settled in to do the little chores.

Tomorrow's a long day on the road - 350 miles.
