At Sea en route Georgetown, Grand Cayman,

We have no plans for today other than to have fun. Well, ok, eating is planned. The library, the pool, sunning, watching the water, and napping are all possibilities.

The clocks were turned back during the night so we are back on Eastern Standard Time. That gave us an extra hour of sleep time, so we were up early (by our body clocks).

At 1000 D went off to her cooking class while I went to do the charity Cancer Research walk. The walk was to be 12 laps (3 miles, 5km). I could have completed it but quit at the end of eleven laps to go get into the shower. The lack of a lap made no difference to the financial success of the thing, which the ship’s leader said has raised $4.3 million over the years. The beneficiaries are the cancer research places in the US, UK, Germany, and Holland.

After a light lunch, I relaxed with a book. D came back and also took it easy.

We went at 1700 to the Sip-n-Savor. Tonight Christine served chocolates made earlier, and a Graham’s Reserve Port called Six Grapes. Both were delicious. The seemingly professional cruiser Doug from Tampa told us about the birds called “boobies” that are flying along with the ship and why. He and his wife get off in Tampa Sunday with us, then start another Eastern Caribbean cruise the following Saturday to some of the same ports we’ve just visited. Strange. Barbara from Baltimore was there again. We found out she lives in the Hunt Valley region. Comparing notes with her, we found she sometimes patronizes the same restaurant we visited with our daughter and husband while they lived there - the Corner Stable at the corner of York Road and Church Street.

We dined in the big room and were placed at a huge round table for eight. The couple to our left were Canadian but the man (Alan) had been born in Yorkshire, England. The other two couples were British. The couple to our right were from Yorkshire as well, but close to Cumbria, which we have visited. So there was a good deal of shouting across and around the large table. We did manage to do some conversing without shouting and enjoyed ourselves. The food was nice.

Later we wandered about. Jamaica is off our starboard side, not too distant but beyond our vision.
