The day wasn't all that eventful. We got out of Prince George a little late, but we ran right along. The truck didn't get as warm today, but that may be due to a cooler day overall.

Dolores saw two deer that I didn't, then we both saw one. Later, near Topley, a moose came out of the brush ahead of us; we came almost to a complete stop while letting it figure out what to do. As we came closer, it went back into the brush. We gave it time to move away, then we went on.

This only helps prove that moose will come out if you aren't ready to take their picture. Dolores fumbled with the camera but didn't get it ready before the moose went away. Conversely, if you are ready with a camera, the moose won't come out at all.

There were three campgrounds in Smithers to choose from, so we went slowly past the first two and took the third. The name "Glacier View" comes from the view of the Hudson's Bay Glacier across the valley, a hanging glacier way up a mountain (Hudson's Bay Mountain, of course). There seem to be lots of things named after Hudson's Bay in this country.

We unhooked and went on a short drive, then hike, to a point where you can look up toward the glacier and see two streams of snowmelt from the glacier cascading down over 500 feet. Then they meet and become a stream at your feet. Pretty pictures. Tough hike - the "path" was all small stones.

We met a young couple (Mennonites by their dress) who then took our picture for us. They live in Ohio, south of Cleveland. Then a school bus full of 8th-graders showed up and the noise level went way up. They were still having fun as we left.

Curiosity led us into Zeller's (a chain store) to look around, but we didn't get anything. Instead, we went on to Safeway and bought some grocery items. Then back to the view of the glacier from the little house.

Another guest here at the campground is a young female motorcyclist camping in a tent. We haven't come across her to ask where she's headed. Then there are a couple of class C's traveling together, plus another Class C, two 5er's plus ours, and a couple in a station wagon with tent.

It's 9:30pm and the sun is about to go behind the mountain. Time to work the photographs and then sleep.
