High 71* in PCB, 69* in Baltimore, but nice days in both.
We loafed the morning away, puttering and packing and doing computer stuff and generally getting ready to travel.
Then we drove to the new ECP airport where I dropped D and the luggage. Then I dropped the car in long-term parking and walked back to her to begin the check-in process. That done, we hiked to the upper-level bar for coke and bloody mary, and then waited for the plane.
It came in and disgorged a bunch of people. I talked to the gate agent, who said the flight was about 70% full. Hogwash. When we boarded (we were in the first 20), it seemed as though 500 people got on. Every seat was occupied. One factor that might have contributed to this was a gang of 50 ladies from Baltimore who had been in PCB on some group function, and looked as though they'd had a lot of fun.
The flight was uneventful, and the ride to get the rental car was as long as usual. Then we drove to the airport motel and checked in. We looked up a crab restaurant we'd liked eight years ago and drove there.
G&M Seafood has at least doubled in size and upgraded in the process. It's no longer a place where pickup truck afficiandos gather, but gets people in suits. I guess you can't go home again.
But the food was great. D tried two crabcakes, which were huge. She pronounced them excellent and for the first time in her life, she couldn't finish the second one. I had breasts (2 LARGE) of chicken with apple and walnut dressing – very good, moist, flavorful. I couldn't finish my second one, either. We had fun talking with the nice waitress.
Baltimore plays Jacksonville at football tonight. At least for tonight, we have an offspring in each of those two cities, so we kidded with people that we didn't know which team to favor.
Finally, we waddled out of the place and back to the hotel. We spoke with daughter Susan and agreed to meet her at 1:00pm tomorrow for lunch.
She and Bryant are finishing this end of their move to Austin, TX. Their household goods are gone and they're living in a motel while the cats are living in the apartment alone and are quite unhappy. Tomorrow, the movers come to get the car and take it away. The day after tomorrow, they (with three cats) fly to Austin. That will be humorous to hear about.
After time with Susan, we'll wander the Baltimore area and then check in for our flight tomorrow night. We'll document that tomorrow evening, but might not be able to post it to the web for a day or two.
