Trinidad and Tobago is a dual-island Caribbean nation near Venezuela. The smaller island of Tobago is known for its beaches and the Tobago Main Ridge Forest Reserve, known for hummingbirds. Scarborough is on Tobago.

As of 10/20/2025 there is a DO NOT TRAVEL warning posted for Trinidad and Tobago, due to attacks on US government buildings. We'll have to watch this prior to arrival. In late November a tourist on Tobago was stabbed to death as he was trying to purchase marijuana (not very smart, but…)
Scarborough is a one-pier port, just long enough to accommodate Quest, but open to the sea on the south hand. If the weather is kicking up, they'll scrub this stop. We're the only cruise ship scheduled today.
We'll just stroll around and do the shops; the Port Mall is said to be a good place to shop, across the road from the port. The Google Maps excerpt below shows the pier area.
..and that's just what we did. Friendly people, but everything was closed. Sunday.
One of the perks of our status is that the Azamara people wanted to give us a bottle of booze to enjoy in the stateroom. Since O no longer partakes, he asked if they give non-alcoholic bottles. So today a bottle of NA gin showed up. Must get some tonic to try it.
We had met a young lady named Laura from Cincinnati yesterday. Today at trivia (led by Tavo, from last year's cruise) we teamed with Laura and her younger sister named Beth. Good conversation and fun with answers.
At dinner we were seated next to a couple from Ottawa who were well traveled. We had a good time chatting with them.
We chose to return to cabin rather than watch the comedian. Ship slightly rolling.

20260119 Monday At Sea
Time to rest from taking it easy. A slow day. Cloudy, ship pitching more than rolling.
Captain says the weather is marginal for tomorrow, where the harbor and pier are exposed to the south. He mentioned in his noon monologue that he was considering tendering. Noting positive until we're closer.
Breakfast in Windows so we could avoid filling ourselves at the brunch. Many others had the same idea.
O attended the Myths about Airlines lecture. A retired captain gave his talk on why people may fear flying (too much adverse publicity by media), and some hints on health (don't sit forward in aisle seats - all the sick walk past you). Don't drink the restroom water. Lots of little things, not much new, and much of it just his opinion.
D noticed the erroneous charge on our account for internet had not been deleted as previously promised. So we went to Guest Services and showed them our contract showing it was pre-paid. He deleted the charge on the spot.
Bingo was a washout, poorly attended.
We went to the Living 'Room for trivia. Laura and Beth joined us. Great to have a multi-generational team. We did well but not that well. Then came a musical trivia thing where contestants were asked to furnish the lyrics in songs. Beth and Laura really did well and carried us.
Back to the cabin (Azamara prefers Stateroom, but ..) to dress for our first high dinner, this one in Aqualina (think Italian and seafood).
Dinner was nice throughout. Antipasti, zuppa, insalata, pasta, secondi, and dessert. Table-side performance serving Dover Sole was done very well. We left grateful that we had skipped lunch. The picture (L) was taken from the table.
The evening show at 2100 turned out to be individual performances by each person showing their best. Each was very good, and most were excellent. It culminated in a group song that the crowd loved.
Back to the cabin where we found the literature of the day (there's always something). One piece gave a caution about a tour we selected in Belem that makes us think we ought not to do it - it includes an hour-long hike through the jungle they hadn't noted in the brochure. We'll cancel in the morning.
Time to wind down from all the excitement.
