Nice airport in the foreground, then Nice, and in the background is the southern end of the Alps.

The party’s over, and it’s time to fly home today from the airport at Nice, France. We’re scheduled non-stop Nice to JFK’s Terminal 4, clear customs there, and depart to Jacksonville from Terminal 2. It will be nice if it works.

Schedule:
Depart NCE 1310 DL 413 Arr JFK 1630
Depart JFK 1910 DL 2992 Arr JAX 2151

Actual:
Depart NCE 1315 Arr JFK 1625
Depart JFK 1925 Arr JAX 2205

We were up at 0700, packed, and went to a lovely breakfast while looking out at sunrise over the Mediteranian Sea. This Fairmont is a really nice place..

Dolores captured some pictures of Monoco using my iPhone from the breakfast room. Here’s a picture of the harbor; the hotel is in the lower center - the one with the jagged edges along the shore and the pool on top of the bottom part (which is where the lobby and the racing turn are located).

MonteCarlo-Monaco-Fairmont

We were driven to the airport at Nice with a bunch of the others from the cruise. Delta took some time to open their check-in lines, then security took some more. So we waited until the flight boarded. We wound up in 15A&B with the Jacksons in17A&B, so we’ve seen each other during the flight.

As I type this, we’re south of Argentia, Newfoundland. The time is 2000 CEST and 1400 EST with two hours remaining to JFK. We’ve done 3530 miles so far.

The flight has been decent so far. Minimal turbulence. We’re traveling a little south of the line I usually see coming back from Europe. I don’t know if that’s caused by our leaving Europe farther south or a routing to minimize head winds (currently 46mph).

(Next morning at home)

We said good-bye to the Jacksons at the baggage claim at JFK. We’ll stay in touch and see what we do next.

The flights were fine but long and tiring as usual. Bill picked us up at JAX and took us home. Today it’s raining and 70*F.

It was a fun trip with major problems. I don’t know what we’ll do in the future regarding river cruising.

Thanks for coming along on this one.
