Up for breakfast as the ship moored at Nurnberg.
This was a different sort of day. We spent the morning covering more recent history - that of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party and their deeds in this city.
We bussed first to the Nazi Party Rally Grounds - the place where Hitler stood each year addressing his followers (up to 280,000 persons) with fanatic speeches and tributes. We stood near where Hitler stood while a college-age student gave his lecture about the grounds; the students seem to acknowledge Hitler and are determined to document what happened so it won't happen again.
But the place is eerie and brings back memories of the Nazi regime. Here are links to remind us of its use in the past.

We went on to the Documentation Center, wherein are the records of the Nazi regime and excellent photo presentations of some of the (high?) points of it. It was formerly the KongressHalle of the Reich. A web site exists:

Then we went on to the Christmas Markt, which is called here by the Germans "Christkindlesmarkt" or Christ-childs Markt. On the way, we passed the Hall of Justice, where Nazi war criminals like Goring were tried, convicted, and hanged.
Karl of my church had told me this is the best Markt in Germany and it certainly was for us. It occupied the entire square in front of the church (neat glockenspiel with bells) and stretched off it up one street to another square, which it also occupied. Sunny but cool and breezy. Make that cold and breezy.
More bratwurst. More Gluhwein. More walking and looking in this huge area of stands and shops. We found a few little items and so did the Jacksons. After much looking we found a place to get warm - the Tucher brewery restaurant. When we went out, we found school-children singing carols on the steps of the church. Horse-drawn carriages were taking people on tours; one of them had a rider blowing a trumpet to herald the arrival of the important personages inside.
Sunset came, it got even colder, and we returned to the ship. We had a nice Bavarian dinner, with all sorts of trimmings. We took brandy in the lounge before setting off to our cabin to pack for our departure for home tomorrow, which turned out to be quite a challenge. Finally, everything fit.
Then, early to bed.
