At Sea en route Tampa

We have no plans for today other than to have fun. Well, ok, eating is planned. The library, the pool, sunning, watching the water, and napping are all possibilities.

I expect we’ll see Cuba in the distance as we round the point and head north.

We rounded the western tip of Cuba in the early hours. At 0900 we found the temperature to be down to 75*f and the wind 24 knots from the east. At 1000 our position was 22*59’N, 84*45’W. We were steering 006*T and making about 18 knots. At 1030 we changed course to 024*T.

D & I took breakfast in the Rotterdam dining room. The food was cooked perfectly and served nicely. We should have used this room more.

D did her recipe-gathering at 1000 and the cooking class at 1100. I stuck close to the cabin with a case of King Neptune’s Revenge or Green-Apple Quick-Step. Finally I gained confidence enough to go do some practical things and a little on-board shopping.

The shopping resulted in no buys. I returned two books to the library, retaining the last one. D caught me quietly reading in the Crow’s Nest and wandered off again. At 1300, the team-trivia event started in the Crow’s Nest so I left. I grabbed a quick hot dog on the Lido to tide me over until our Pinnacle dinner this evening, then returned to the cabin. Rudi or Rul had it made up, including sturdy leather coverings on part of the bed marked “Luggage”. Good thinking on someone’s part.

I poured the last of my bottle of gin into a glass followed with the remaining tonic. Good planning on my part. I returned to reading. D returned from her culinary class, having learned Chicken Cordon Bleu. Then she went off to grab a quick meal, then returned. While she was gone I did most of my packing.

She looked tired so I asked her to take a nap while I wandered. I went to the Crow’s Nest and read.

We met at 1700 for the Sip-n-Savor, which was shrimp. Nice. Barbara Parker gave us her e-mail address so we can keep in touch. Then we went to the Explorer’s Lounge with Barbara & Dave (her buddy). We had two wines each (happy hour) then went to the cabin and did some packing.

We did our Pinnacle Grill dinner at 2000. D had crab legs & I had halibut with D’s bottle of wine from the ship for her birthday. After dinner we finished packing and put out the suitcases for transport to the pier in the morning.

Then to bed
