20050725  Watson Lake YT  48/70  Partly, then mostly, cloudy. Cool.

While hooking the trailer to the truck, I found that some skunk had stolen our five-gallon container of diesel fuel. I hope he needed it badly and not to sell for drugs.

We took our time threading the trailer out of our site, past the trees, and onto the road eastward.

The drive today was almost boring. We saw no animals, but we were told later that there had been a small black bear in the margin. The folks who told us this were behind us, confused at my pulling over and slowing but not stopping. I was trying to get them to pass us because they'd come up behind us so quickly. Oh, well.

We stopped to top off fuel at Teslin. Both of us muttered under our breath at the night we'd spent there earlier this trip (June 17th).

Once we got here and got settled in at the big parking lot with service posts, we did a few things. Dolores did her laundry. I found out the provincial liquor store is closed Mondays, so I hiked up the street and bought a six-pack of Kokanee to cut the thirst.

Then I set out the other direction to find a replacement for the stolen fuel can. I finally found only a red one (gasoline) instead of yellow (diesel). I bought it anyway and used a permanent felt-tip to scratch out the "Gasoline" and write in "Diesel". Then I took a length of chain out of my junkbox and chained & locked it to the truck. Steal that, you skunk!

Then Dolores & I went to the grocery store (they have a nice one here, given the low population) and the mini-department store and bought a few things. One was a battery powered mosquito swatter. You swing at the mosquito and electrocute it when he gets between two grids in the swatter. We'll have to test it later tonight.

We made a dinner of pork chops, corn-on-the-cob, and salad. After that, I went to get the e-mail (something is still strange here) and see what the financial accounts hold (ok).

Now I'm going to read while Dolores reads and watches TV (seven channels: CNN, CBS, ABC, CityTV, Sports, and two movie channels). The CityTV is from Vancouver and one of the US networks is from Spokane WA.

Tomorrow, we'll go down the Cassiar Highway (BC17) toward Stewart BC.
