We had breakfast and drove around the Tacoma end of the Bay to Port Angles, using the Tacoma Narrows bridge. At one time we’d considered retiring to Port Angeles and we still regard it highly.

We drove around the town and looked at things. We had lunch in a local diner, very friendly. Then we took our usual trip to the top of Hurricane Ridge, the mile-high spot that looks over much of the Olympic Range. Beautiful scenery and always a deer or two to look at.

We took a room at the Red Lion Inn close to the ferry dock for the “Coho”, the passenger and car ferry to Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island (this can get confusing if you think of Vancouver BC rather than the island).

For dinner, we went to an old favorite, Bushwhacker’s. D had her Dungeness crab and I forget what I had, but the food’s usually very good there.

We had our hearty breakfast again, then headed west on 101, then southwest. We came to the entry for the Hoh Rain Forest National Park and entered via a long road next to a stream. There were washouts in places because there’s been a lot of rain lately. It was raining at the time, but it looked as though it could rain at any moment.

We wandered around. Dolores took many photos of the flora and fauna. My high spot was seeing an elk family with bull, cows and calf. They’re big.

Later the sun came out to remind us what it looks like. We returned to the Red Lion Inn and dinner there (not all that great but good scenery).
