20120706 Friday Rain, fog, cool Copenhagen to Newark

The rain gods let us have a nice vacation, holding back the rain until today. Now we have all the above. But we’re snug in the SAS Business Lounge (with beer and wine on tap, and light breakfast materials in bins. Ooops, cancel that - they are putting out the lunch items.

Scheduled departure is 1225 CEST and arrival at 1455 EDT after a run of slightly over eight hours. It should be a nice trip once we get above the clouds.

Currently we have a good internet connection so I’m uploading the picture files I’ve been holding back due to the internet expense on the ship.

More later ... later:

I got part-way through uploading the pictures but the lounge became busy and the net slowed down.

The flight was delayed because there was no captain. He was on an inbound flight that was cancelled for weather. When he showed up we took off (all prep work having been done by the co-pilot) and headed west. The flight wasn’t exciting, just an eight-hour slog through the air. Food was ok, service good. I reclined for a while and took a nap. We arrived at Newark a half-hour late. Then we took the AirTrain to the shuttle pickup area, then the shuttle to the hotel. Remind me to avoid Newark if possible.

We’re going to sit and enjoy being back on EDT after a light dinner in the hotel dining room.

I’m uploading pictures again and should complete the task today.

20120707 Friday Newark to Jacksonville

After dinner last night we tried to read and stay awake, but failed. By 1930 we were both asleep. I didn’t wake up until 0600 today - maybe that will help me recover from jet lag.

We went to the airport in mid-morning, checked in, and waited. The flight to Jacksonville was uneventful but crowded on a CRJ145. Son Bill picked us up in our minivan and drove to their house. Later we went out for dinner with friends.

Now, we’re relaxing and this completes the trip

Glad you could come along.
