Really quiet day today. Got up at 6:00 am and took the Jacksons to the airport. Light traffic going, heavy traffic returning. The sun rose ahead of me but was quickly obscured by rain. We took it easy and napped a little in the morning.

The cats are becoming more friendly. I was lying down reading my book when Honey Girl landed in the middle of my chest to be petted and scratched. PC loves being brushed.

We did up the chicken remaining from dinner a couple nights ago with rice and salad for a large lunch, since we intend to have a light dinner. Nice.

In mid-afternoon I went out to put fuel in the car and get groceries at Safeway. Got rained on - it's been breezy with frequent showers all day. The weekend weather forecast has a high wind warning, continuing windy most of next week.

We did practical things in the afternoon, like laundry and trash. Tomorrow we'll restore the guest room to normal.

We had our light dinner and watched the news - more doom and gloom. Gave the cats their treats.

I finished my book in the early evening and started looking around the internet only to find that Colgan Airlines of Manassas VA (our old home and for whom friends work) suffered a crash near Buffalo NY, with all on board dead. Pilot is said to have reported mechanical difficulties; the weather may have been a factor as well. So sad.

Waimea Falls is on the agenda for tomorrow.
