Woke up at four, looked at the lights outside, rolled over and went back to sleep. Woke up again at eight. Must have needed the sleep.

Get ready for the day, down to the macadamia nut muffin stand for muffin and coffee.

Walked back through the grounds to the lobby and hired a taxi to take us to church - St Augustine by the Sea at Kalakaua and Ohua. They presented 15 minutes of Hawaiian music before the service. Nice service, lots of tourists like us.

We walked slowly back up Kalakaua, stopping at the Apple Store to question the folks there about iTouch. Then down Lewers past the Wyndham and the newest Waikiki shopping area to the Halekulani Hotel and the Orchids room, where we had invited Fran & Duane to brunch. Brunch lived up to its reputation. Beautiful setting, looking at Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head. Great food and lovely food presentation. Harp and flute music.

Then they took us to WYC to watch the Super Bowl. I didn't have a dog in the fight, so I didn't care who won, but Duane was favoring the Cardinals so we went along. Cardinals could have won it but for a couple of mistakes. Good game. Met some folks and re-met Lyle Holden, a good friend of Fran's. Fran gave us a Guest Pass so we can go in there while they're gone.

We discussed family, pussycats, wine, Seattle, Kauai, New Zealand, airlines, Australia, cruise lines, Alaska cruises, the Ala Wai basin, and some other subjects. They ran into buddies and invited them up to their condo. We decided to stroll back to the Hale Koa military hotel by walking around the yacht basin and down the beach past the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

Then we wandered around the Hale Koa re-learning the grounds and visiting the shops. We had a drink at the Barefoot Bar (singer performing) and returned to the room to settle in and relax.

Mom's looking through brochures Fran gave us at the airport, planning ways to have fun.
