We loafed the morning away chatting, reading the newspapers, and looking at USS Port Royal aground off the reef runway of Honolulu International Airport. The navy must be terribly embarrassed.

Then we got going and went to the Waikiki Yacht Club for lunch. Very good. Love the place and the people.

Onward then to view the USS Missouri battleship. We bought tickets at the USS Bowfin building then boarded a shuttle bus which took us over the bridge to Ford Island and to the ship. That thing is big. Our tour guide (Marc) took us forward then aft, then up and forward to CIC (formerly the Admiral's cabin). Then he verbally set the stage for the surrender ceremony that ended WWII, and walked us where Macarthur, Nimitz, and Halsey walked on deck. He told us all about the ceremony and how it was staged by Macarthur to totally intimidate the Japanese.

Marc ended his tour there. The gals left to go get something to drink. Glenn & I wandered around the ship taking pictures. We covered the upper decks pretty well. Glenn was having fun looking at all the fire-control equipment (he was an FT on destroyers before GI bill schooling in EE).

We shuttled back to the car around 5:00 pm and drove to our Safeway for food. We found swordfish steaks at a good price, bought more wine, and some cheeses for happy hour. Back to the condo to find scowling cats who wanted their happy-hour treats. So we played with the cats and fed them. Looked out toward the ocean and saw the Port Royal still there. Had dinner with pasta and vegetables and the fish. Glenn & Lou keep remarking at the kitchen and how efficient it is.

Sat around and chatted the evening away.
