This is a lazy day by design. We've been hard at work playing tourist and family-persons, so today is our day off.

We loafed the morning away; D on her new iPad and me starting the web site for the narrative and pictures of this trip. I noticed while doing that, that the RV park is full of squirrels. A few wandered past the trailer, then there was a scramble between two of them to see which is the alpha squirrel. Bob at the office says that the people don't bother them, so they're almost tame.

I finally got ambitions and took a 2.5 mile hike. From the south side of the river at the RV park to the Amtrak station on the north side of the river, walked around there for a while, then back across the LBJ walking trail pedestrian bridge and back home. Stopped at the little food market to buy D two bottles of sparkling shiraz (she loved it in Australia).

It's a beautiful day now, clear and 75*.

We started looking for food and settled on Marisco's on East Riverside. It's a neighborhood thing, mainly hispanic seafood. We each had catfish fillet, fries & cole slaw. We sampled the happy hour margaritas. Quite good. We left full and content to return to the little house.

There, we walked back to Thom's Market, our little next-door neighborhood place on Barton Springs Road. Dolores says we should tell Susan and Bryant, since this is more than a little market – it's organic (mostly) and has a good selection of wines.

Dolores then went back to the little house while I went up the street to Uncle Billy's Brew&Que. I have no idea how it got the name. There's another out by Lake Travis. The place is open to the air from table height to the ceiling. It being Friday at 5pm, the place was full, lots of couples, a few tables of guys with iPhones, and one very busy bartender.

Uncle Billy's serves beer from other places but also makes a few of its own. I had a couple of Ax Handle Pale Ales, perfectly acceptable. Several TVs were tuned to sports stations. When I filled up on the ale, I went back to the little house. We both settled in for the evening and night.

We must be getting old – at one time we'd hit the town about this time and stay out a while. Oh, well.
